Challenge #6 Dresser Drawers

This is such a loaded challenge.  Maybe because I felt overwhelmed when I first read it.  Not only do I have a 7 drawer dresser, but Luke has a 5 drawer dresser, PLUS we have a closet that we overutilize.  Seriously.

So, I am only doing mine:

Before:  Upper left drawer

After: Upper left drawer
Before:  Upper right drawer

After
Before:  tank top drawer

After:  Tank top drawer
Before: Swimsuit drawer

After:  Swimsuit drawer
Before:  Exercise drawer
After:  Exercise drawer
Before:  sock, slip and nylon drawer

After:  sock, slip and nylon drawer

After: dresser

Challenge #5: Under the sink

I finished under the sink in about 2 seconds.  It wasn't very dirty, not too much stuff.
Here's the before:

And the after:

Challenge #6:  Dresser Drawers (yikes!)
This is directly from A Bowl Full of Lemons Blog:
"The primary purpose is to purge what you no longer need, making space for the "new, trendy you".
You get to go through all of you clothes, weeding out the ones that you no longer wear, ones that don't flatter you, if you bought them when you were in high school, aka... "out of style pieces" or any that just doesn't fit anymore. Those will go in your donation box. ONLY KEEP WHAT FITS YOU NOW! I hope we can inspire each other to get our clothing neatly in order!

Her challenge for us

1. Take a "before" picture of the contents of your dresser, exactly as it is now. (We don't have to see the booty drawer, if you dont feel comfy about it!) If you dont have a dresser, find a set of "drawers" somewhere in the house.
2. Now, empty it all onto your bed.
3. Get your 3 boxes (keep, toss, donate) and start separating. Try them on if you have to.
4. Okay, now neatly fold all of the clothes and put them back in an organized fashion.
5. While you are at it, you can clear the clutter on the top of your dresser too... in the same fashion as the clothing sort. Remove everything, give it a good cleaning, and toss what you don't need on there.
5. Easy,peasy... Your done! It was a simple challenge, but gives a great feeling of satisfaction that it was done! Take your "after" picture and come back & share with us!

*This is going to be a tricky one for me!  Hopefully I can get it done, but I also have a 'dresser' in my closet.  Should be easy and may take more than a day to finish.

Challenge #3: Tupperware Cabinet

Halloween was SO FUN!  The kids had a blast and nothing is better than letting the husband take the kids, while you sit, snuggled up next to a firepit, handing out candy.  :)

Today's challenge was the Tupperward Cabinet.  Mine wasn't too bad:

Here's the before.  We use a container to hold our lids.  The container was from our Coleman Cooler...

Not much change for the after.  Although I did get rid of some lids and put the tupperware that I don't use in the back.

#4 Challenge:
Linen Closet (or in my case that's plural)

Day #2 - Computer Desk

Clean the TOP of the computer desk only.  What a relief to only have to clean the top, but I'll be honest, I did the drawers anyway.  I had cleaned them out a few months ago, so it wasn't too hard.  (Plus, Luke let me watch Felicity at the same time :)

Next up:  the dreaded tupperware drawer.

PLEASE let me know if you have started organizing.  I think it would be awesome to see what you all are doing!

Organized in 21 Days

I have a hard time with organization. Like a really hard time. I LOVE being organized, BUT I have a hard time doing it. Junk drawers? I have about 3 or 4...or 5. I wouldn't say they were 100% junk drawers (I know where the batteries are, the pencils, etc), but they still hold stuff.

Here is a great challenge:

It's time...

Wow!  I can't believe that I have slacked for so long!  I think getting back in to the swing of things has been hard on me.

Anyway, I have a few things to throw out into the blogging world.  We like fruit.  We eat a lot of it in our home and so, we buy quite a bit at a time.  How do you manage the fruit in your home?  I mean, where do you put it?!  I am tempted to turn one of my lower cabinets in to a sliding drawer/basket.  Seriously.  I am trying to minimize how much 'stuff' is on my countertops and the fruit is NOT HELPING!

With that rant..it leads me to this book, Organized Simplicity by Tsh Oxenreider.  It is a Godsend.  I borrowed it from my friend several, SEVERAL months ago (thanks Laura) and never got around to really embracing it.  Well, last week I figured now is the time.  I will say that my home isn't miraculously cleaner or more organized, BUT it is getting there.  I do have 3 young children to contend with.  But honestly, this book is sheer genius.  I think that it is mostly because she breaks it down in easy to follow steps.  She tells you the how, the why, etc of doing it.  She also brings in other like-minded geniuses to help with subjects she may not know as well.  (Dave Ramsey and Financial Freedom)

Follow this link to get downloads.  Did I mention she is brilliant?  The first week I used the Daily Docket to organize my day.  This week I used the pocket docket because I knew what I was doing.  (sort of) Go to the library, go to amazon, borrow the book...it will change your life.  Already organized?  You rock.

I will say that this organization bug has been at the back of my mind, BUT it really bit me when my daughter's friend made a comment that her mom doesn't have a 'junk drawer'.  Darn it.  I have about 5!

Ideas:
-Here is another comment a friend made at Church a few months ago.  We were getting handouts for the lesson and I offered to get her one.  She said, "I never take handouts home."  Simple.  Straight forward.  Great to have in the lesson, but don't bring the unnecessary stuff home.
-Call and do 'paperless' billing.  Call catalogues and magazines.

Good luck and let me know what you do to stay organized!
